~ Request different
colors of an animal I already make (no additional charge)
~ Request
any toy be made from cotton fabrics and organic cotton stuffing
For new toy designs I can work
from a picture, an idea, or your child's drawing. Really, whatever your starting point is I'm happy to work
with it. I've recreated childhood toys from old photos, used a beloved pet's favorite blanket as material, and
designed items made from a much loved relative's old clothing & their memories of that relationship, to give you some
ideas. I will stay in contact with you throughout the process - sending pictures and notes as the item develops to make
sure that you are getting exactly what you want. Alterations to the design are included in the cost, within reason,
because I want to make sure you are happy with the toy before I ship it out and sometimes changes have to be made to make
it perfect. I am happy to work with your child if they are the one "designing" the toy, or if you just have
a vague idea I can research images and send you some sketched ideas before we commit to a style or fabric. Custom orders
often take 2-4 weeks as fabrics often have to be ordered and there is a lot of time
involved in the communication process. Please let me know if you have any questions!
I charge a flat fee of $125 for custom toy designs due to
the huge amount of time involved, which includes ALL materials, photos/emails throughout the process, any requested alterations,
shipping, and of course the finished product. (If your request is for a very simple pattern I may charge less, please
contact me if you have questions.) The North American Bear Co does sell a "make your own monster
kit" for $249, and is limited in what they will create, to give you an idea of what other companies charge.
One of my most memorable
custom orders was creating a fossa with a 5 year old. It was a blast researching pictures, learning about the animal,
and discussing the design with him! (With his mom's help, of course.)
